Error: ScanDisk fails repairing bad allocated cluster (due to cluster in use).
Error:
ScanDisk was attempting to correct an error, but encountered another error while writing to one of the drive's data area sectors. ScanDisk can repair this error and detect other damaged sectors on the disk if you choose...sectors may already to lost.
Cause:
ScanDisk fails to repair a bad cluster if the cluster is in use (allocated to a file). Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows 95.
NOTE: On uncompressed drives, ScanDisk tries to write data to a free cluster, repair the cluster chain and mark the cluster as bad in the FAT. If the cluster being written to is also bad, Scan Disk should try to find another free cluster.
Solution:
Run ScanDisk again and select the 'Thorough' option.
ScanDisk 'Thorough' option
NOTE 1: Repair any bad clusters with no files associated with them. Ignore any bad clusters that have files associated with them.
NOTE 2: Run ScanDisk again, with the 'Thorough' option selected, and this time repair any bad clusters with associated files.
